Mil-Spec speed fasteners are a type of rivet that functions very much like a standard break-mandrel rivet but for the lack of a mandrel, which is incorporated into the rivet setting tool. The fastener is grouped with a mandrel separately and is then installed into the work piece. They are also referred to as hollow bore rivets or mandrel-loaded rivets. Since a separate mandrel does not need to be loaded into the installation tool, these fasteners can be installed much faster than conventional blind rivets.

They are found in many different types of applications including aircraft, automobiles, and in various electronics. They are frequently used in computer hardware and circuit boards to attach connectors or to be used as terminal posts.
